Weekend To Do List

Hey y’all. I hope everyone enjoyed last night’s incredible thunderstorm, and is excited for a chilly, yet sunny, weekend.

Friday

  • Near FoBo: Georgetown’s monthly gallery walk is here! The Georgetown Gallery Gaze lasts from 6 pm to 9 pm, meaning that participating galleries will be open late, and possibly serving you food. The walk starts at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue NW and M Street NW, and a detailed description of the event (including which galleries are going to be open) can be found on GregsListDC.
  • You can still see SubUrbia at the Lisner Downstage at 7 pm or 10 pm.

Saturday

  • Head to Eyebar (1716 I St., NW) at 9 pm for a birthday party happy hour that raises money for the Playtime Project.
  • For a brunch that benefits charity, go to Hu’s Shoes (2906 M Street, NW) at 11 am for champagne, food, and shoe shopping. 10% of sales will go to benefit Interstages. RSVP at rsvp@thepattongroupinc.com.
  • Raas Chaos is here! If you like South Asian music and dance (or suspect you might like it after buying the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack), then this is THE event for you. Raas Chaos showcases raas-garba dance and features seven teams from around the country competing for a grand prize and a chance to compete in another competition in Dallas. Proceeds go to benefit READ Global, tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster ($20), and doors open at 6:30 in Lisner Auditorium. PS – skip the afterparty.
  • East Coast Caravan, a funk/reggae type band full of former FoBoians, plays to the home crowd at 10 pm at Tonic. 18+, $3 cover. More on the Facebook event page.
  • Out of FoBo: Head to Cleveland Park’s Weygandt Wines from 12 pm – 4 pm for a wine & chocolate tasting event, hosted by Double Premium Confections to promote their 18-piece Thanksgiving boxes. Sounds delicious.

Sunday

  • Sahar Ishtiaque Ullah’s Hijabi Monologues project takes the Millennium Stageat 6 pm. Much like the Vagina Monologues, the Hijabi Monologues dramatizes stories from 12 real Muslim women about their experiences wearing the hijab.
