Weekday Roundup

Let’s be honest: the businesses of DC are simply holding their collective breathes to see if there’s going to be another snow-mergency in the next few days. Parties and events are diminishing as the snow piles up and turns into black ice.

Monday

  • Broadway notables and stars Peter Mills, Matt Cavanaugh, and Kate Baldwin will perform at 6 pm for free on the Millennium Stage, as part of “Broadway: Today & Tomorrow,” this week’s theme for Millennium Stage performers/performances.
  • Brian Moulton, Chief Legislative Counsel for the Human Rights Campaign, kicks off GW’s Allied in Pride’s Marriage Equality Week. He will speak in Marvin Center 308 at 8 pm. Maybe he’ll explain what the HRC has been spending money on for the past couple years. [Facebook]

Tuesday

  • Meghan McCain, diva of GW College Republican controversy, finally comes to GW to give her talk, “Redefining Republicanism” in the Jack Morton auditorium. Tickets are presumably free, but no one has responded to my emails about how to get one. Try GSPM.
  • Russia’s Mariinsky Ballet comes to the Kennedy Center, performing Konstantin Sergeyev’s 1952 version of The Sleeping Beauty. The show runs through the 14th (how ~*~romantic~*~) and tickets are selling fast. [Website]
  • Did you know it’s flamenco month at Lisner? And that we’re giving away two pairs of tickets to Tuesday’s kick off Gala Flamenca? Better comment fast!

Wednesday

  • OMG. Listen to middle schoolers read their love poems at the Kennedy Center Family Theatre. For reals. Free, but you must email for tickets. [Website].

Thursday

  • The NSO Pops, conducted by Bill Conti, presents their show And the Winner Is…, a tribute to the Oscars and the music from this year’s favorites. [Website]
  • Out of FoBo: Brightest Young Things is throwing a 3-hour boat party on the Potomac for $25, free appetizers, and a cash bar. Sweet, right? [RSVP/buy tickets]
  • Lisner’s 10th Annual Flamenco Festival brings you Compañía María Pagés. Looks sweet. [Website]
