Monday
- I hope you jazz lovers are free this evening, because WPAS’ Jazz Legends series is bringing Wynton Marsalis to the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, along with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. 8 pm, one night only. [Ticketing]
- GWU: Trek to the Vern for a documentary screening of “Crossing Lines,” a film following GWU professor Indira Somani (also the filmaker) and her struggle to reconcile both halves — Indian and American — of her cultural identity after the death of her father. Professor Somani and her co-producer Leena Jayaswal will be answering questions after the film. 7 pm in Post Hall. Free.

Wednesday
- It’s Sinatra Night at Hudson Restaurant & Lounge, so if you’ve been looking for a place to wear your fedora, this would be it. Enjoy classic songs covered by the Satin Doll Group and drink specials.
- The Suzanne Farrell Ballet begins its five day run at the Kennedy Center, which includes two different mixed repertory programs. Wednesday’s performance includes Debussy’s Afternoon of a Faun, and the Act II pas de deux from Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. [Ticketing]
- The Russian Mariinsky Opera and Orchestra plays An Evening of Rimsky-Korsakov, Mussorgsky, & Borodin in Concert. If you like Russian composers but don’t feel like you have the attention span for a full-on opera, come to this “greatest hits” showcase. One performance only. [Ticketing]
Thursday
- The Mariinsky Opera and Orchestra presents scenes from Tchaikovsky’s best known and most loved operas, including The Queen of Spades, Mazeppa, and Iolanta. [Ticketing]
- If it’s the first Thursday of the month, it’s time for Phillips After Five. Veritas Wine Bar will be doing a tasting of four whites and DJ Todd Threat will be providing music. The gallery talk, entitled “”Zoom in and Repeat: O’Keeffe’s Series,”" focuses on the current exhibition of Georgia O’Keeffe abstractions. This month, there is also a dance at 6:30, “O’Keeffe and the Line of the Dance.” The choreography, inspired by her work, is by Lonnie J. Hightower III. $12 for non-members, cash bar. [Ticketing]
- Out of FoBo: Former FoBo band Kill Lincoln will be performing at DC9 (1940 9th Street NW) with Eastern Standard Time and Murphy’s Kids. $8 [Facebook Event]
- Paolo’s Ristorante (1303 Wisconsin Avenue NW) is hosting a fundraiser for Dreams for Kids‘ summer programs. Enjoy food, a cash bar, live music, and an art auction of pieces by local artists. The auction begins at 7:30. If art isn’t your thing but you still want to help out, head to Town! Town Dance Boutique (2009 8th St. NW) is donating all proceeds from the door to Dreams for Kids, and FoBoBlo fave FATBACK is DJing.
