Contest: Music from the Crooked Road Tickets

Dear readers, we have in our possession two pairs of tickets to Friday’s show at Lisner, Music from the Crooked Road, and we’d like to give them to yooooooouuuu! Comment on our post or RT this: I want to win free tickets to Music from the Crooked Road from @foboblo! You can too: http://bit.ly/9fyYID

The theme of the tour is the 200-mile Crooked Road in Virginia, which winds through tiny Appalachian communities where folk, bluegrass, mountain gospel, and olde timey music thrived. Enjoy the roots of American music, as performed by a fantastic assortment of virtuosos. Featuring: NEA National Heritage Award Fellow Appalachian guitar master Wayne Henderson, the bluegrass banjo player Sammy Shelor, the ye olde timey family string band The White Top Mountain Band, & old-time fiddle and banjo masters Kirk Stuphin and Eddie Bond. For the younger crowd, the rising star bluegrass band Amber Collins & No Speed Limit and 21-year-old balladeer Elizabeth LaPrelle will perform. [Ticketing]

Photos: Kathy Griffin at Borders

Did you know Kathy Griffin did a book signing at Borders yesterday? I didn’t either, since she tweeted a lot about signing at Barnes & Nobles, and then I forgot about it. Sorry, dear readers. However, intrepid readers and sometimes contributors Amanda Notarangelo and Ryan sent us their snapshots. It took them three hours to meet her, but she was apparently very gracious and happy to meet with her fans. If you’re sad you missed out, you can still spend an evening with Kathy at the DAR Constitution Hall tonight or Saturday night. Tickets are still available for either show.

Humpday Sales

Howdy, dear readers — I’m sorry I’ve been away for so long, but finals, snowpocalypse, and real life has intervened. But here I am, back again, trawling through craigslist to bring you the best last minute holiday gifts I could find!

Whooooo!.

Humpday Sales

Craigslist in FoBo is pretty unimpressive this week, dear readers, but I’ve tried my best. Mostly I’m upset because someone deleted their posting for free golden mystery snails. Yeah.

Gigs, shoes, whatever, inside.
