I recently had an interesting discussion with a new friend during which we psychoanalyzed that most annoying of creatures, the DC gay. It was so interesting, in fact, that I’ve decided to explain both sides of the argument here. Naturally, we’ll start with mine.
A very good place to start...

Probably not this big for realz though.
It’s already 9am, but it’s not too late to head over to the Dunkin’ Donuts in the basement of Ivory Tower (23rd & G) to get a free doughnut with the purchase of any drink.
Of course, if you want to trek all the way to Dupont, you can get a free doughnut from Krispy Kreme too, with no purchase necessary.
Happy National Doughnut Day!

Note: The following took place on Thursday night after our happy hour.
As many of us do, I was multitasking online late one night. Since I had a dating site open in the next window, I was vulnerable to IM attack. A reasonably attractive 27 year-old struck up a conversation with me. Unlike most on these sites, he was actually witty, and we seemed to share academic and career interests. Rather incongruously, he asked me out. “I’m not getting any younger, you know
” was the response to my “Well, that was fast.” He texted me several times the next day. I became cautiously optimistic.
We met the next night for a light dinner near the Archives. Expect the following flow of conversation when on a date with the typical DC gay:

I know there’s some debate about whether Science Club falls in FoBo domain or if they’re far enough north as to be in Dupont territory, but we like Science Club. In that way. So we’re claiming them as our own. That’s right Dupont, that smell is FoBo marking it’s territory.
Anyway, head on over to Science Club (1136 19th St. NW) tonight for Ill Element @ Science Club w/ Lil’ El & DJ TMY. I don’t know about Lil’ El — but DJ TMY is a GW Alum, making him a certified FoBo friend. You’ll find fun, dance-able music, no cover, and happy hour prices all night. Hit up the link above to check out the rest of the deets on the FB.
It’s definitely my favorite food fad right now: frozen yogurt. DC froyo locations abound: there’s yogato, sweetgreen, tangysweet, and I think a few other places with names composed of the words sweet and tang in various combinations. Sweetgreen even have their own mobile froyo truck. This stuff is moderately priced, relatively healthy (especially the live active culture places), and ridcu-tasti-licious.
The only problem? There isn’t a frozen yogurt dispensary in FoBo. Dupont, Chinatown, and other nearby neighborhoods all have at least one place for frozen goodness — but strangely FoBo, despite it’s very obvious market demographic, doesn’t seem to have a single frozen yogurt place.
Does this irritate anyone else? I just want a cold and creamy delicious fix that isn’t ice cream!
