That’s right, FoBoBlo’s favorite FoBo farmers market, FARMFRESH, will be closing up shop at the end of the day next Wednesday, 11/25 (but not forever).
The new season will begin again in the Spring. Don’t miss your opportunity to go grab some of the delicious and fresh goodies while you can.
Not sure what to get? We’ve got the deets from the streets.
Keep keep reading!.
This week we’ve had some perfect weather, relatively warm, but crisp. You breathe in, and it just makes you feel good. So to match our lovely fall weather, today we’re bringing you a fall treat to match (and the principle ingredient can come from our local Farmers Market). So what’s perfect for Autumn, warm but crisp, and makes you feel good when you smell it?
Why, apple pie, of course!
Yumyum Delish pie inside....
Well, and in the blagosphere.
The Sexist has two great take-downs covering the Georgetown Cuddler-esque assaults in Thurston: Lawyer Calls Alleged Sexual Assault “Being Silly” and G.W. Paper Criticizes Sexual Assault Victims’ Lack of “Responsibility”. (PS, the University of Maryland freshman will be facing a grand jury for charges of first-degree burglary, according to the Hatchet).
More on that case was said at Vox Populi, the blog for Georgetown’s paper, The Voice: Sexual assault suspect attempts to enter girls’ beds at GW, gets caught.
On a lighter note, this article in Newsweek is the tale of GWU baseball team alum Tony Dokoupil‘s foray into the wacky world of hair modeling. (h/t to Eric)
The Washington Post covers the not-so-million-dollar-a-plate dinner in honor of Senator Edward Kennedy.
And lastly, a blog asks the question “Is Locavorism Really Elitist?,” invoking the neighboring Dupont Farmfresh Farmer’s Market. (h/t to JuliaSea).

Sorry folks, this week’s Eatin’ Fresh! won’t be appearing. That doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of great things to check out at the FoBo Farmer’s market. In the words of LeVar Burton: of course, you don’t have to take my word for it. Go see for yourself!
Don’t worry, this feature will be back next week.
The FRESHFARM farmers’ market on Foggy Bottom runs from April 1st to November 25th. Check it out on Wednesdays from 2:30pm to 7pm, located on I St between 24th St NW and New Hampshire (right by the FoBo metro). Find out more at their site.
Eatin’ Fresh! is a weekly series covering different stands and items at the FoBo Farmers’ Market — want us to cover something in particluar? Let us know in the comments!
Gunpowder Bison & Trading Co. sells one of my absolute favorite kinds of meat: bison.
If you’ve never had bison before, don’t be intimidated. From a handy pamphlet John at the GBT stand handed me:
Bison tastes like the best beef you’ve ever had, yet it’s lower in fat and cholesterol and higher in protein than chicken…. Bison does not taste “gamey,” in fact it tastes a lot like beef, but tends to have a fuller, sweeter flavor.
Basically, if you like hamburger or steak, you’ll love bison, and I’m going to tell you why.
