GW v. GU Snowdown Media Wrapup
February 11, 2010
So, clearly GWU was declared victorious in yesterday’s snowbath of epic proportions. Here’s a roundup of different videos, photos, and love matches culled from the inter-tubes for your viewing pleasure, and to give you one handy link to send to your friends who are stuck in sunnier climes.
- The Hatchet has a slideshow of GWU’s victory [Hatchet]
- While the Georgetown Voice blog, Vox Populi has some embedded videos of their demise. Also, someone on their site makes an excellent Star Wars references that actually made me lol. Props. [Vox Populi]
- GW man-of-note Chris Brooks uploaded a GW-perspective video. [YouTube]
- The hordes of GW advance [YouTube] & A Scene from the Battlefield [YouTube]
- And over at (ugh) CNN iReport, someone named GWUAlum has uploaded another video. [iReport]
My favorite outcome of this whole (grossly lopsided) snowball fight, however, even more than University President Steve Knapp’s appearance, is this missed connection on Craigslist. This poor girl has already been branded a traitor on the twitter-sphere, but I think it’s kind of sweet. I’m rooting for you, GW girl, and your Montague-Capulet romance. GWU v Georgetown, Snowpocalypse Style
February 9, 2010
Though our illustrious university neighbors still refuse to face us in basketball, some members of the Georgetown population have agreed to a snowball fight to celebrate tomorrow’s class cancellations.
GWU man-of-note Kyle Boyer threw down the challenge on Twitter, and all the media outlets for both universities have been alerted (at least on Twitter). To maintain neutral territory, the venue of Rose Park (around P & 26th) at 2 pm tomorrow. Edit: Due to actual apocalypse type conditions, the snowball fight has been moved to 6pm.
The more people that head out to play the better this will be, so wear your colors proudly and brave the cold to keep up your respective school’s reputation.

Speaking of gay marriage…
January 21, 2010
I was contacted by the Georgetown American Apparel yesterday, letting the blog know about their new “Legalize Gay” promotion. You might remember our coverage of the brands trouble with anti-gay “activists” around the DC area, so I thought I’d let you all know that if you purchase a “Legalize Gay” product from American Apparel, you can get a second product of equal or lesser value free! Who wouldn’t want a pair of these brightly colored boybriefs? You can learn more about their Legalize Gay program on the American Apparel website — American Apparel has donated thousands of dollars worth of these shirts to gay rights organizations around the US. While I think visibility is an important part of any activist campaign, it would be nice to see American Apparel offering some financial support as well, but baby steps, I guess. Check out their coupon behind the cut, so you to can show everyone in Foggy Bottom what side of the gay marriage debacle you are on. (disclaimer: foboblo received no compensation for this post). No nudity in the AA ad, I promise.
