FoBo in the News

Hillary Clinton Reacts to news of Students Returning

Hillary Clinton reacts when we remind her that students are coming back next week.

This week in Foggy Bottom: FoBo metro pretty much just has stairs at this point, new GW UPD Chief (preceded by students) this fall, Georgetown and GW rivalry is revisited, the State Department confuses local realtors, and something about the Real Housewives of DC … maybe.

The News inside!.

Whole Foods Coming to Square 54

Whole Foods

We just got word of some pretty exciting news!  According to GW’s Michael Akin:

Boston Properties has signed a lease with Whole Foods for Square 54/2200 Pennsylvania Avenue!  The store will be approximately 37,000 square feet – at the higher end of the range we outlined during the community based planning process – and is expected to open in mid-to-late 2011.

You can visit www.neighborhood.gwu.edu for additional information on this and other development projects.

Sweet!  I’ve heard people complain that with a Trader Joe’s so close, we don’t really need a Whole Foods.  Do you think Whole Foods will run TJ’s out of town?  (I’m betting not.)

Former FoBoian on Jeopardy! Tonight!

John Krizel in Hollywood for Jeopardy

John Krizel in Hollywood

This year, former FoBoian and GWU Alum (2007) John Krizel took a break from his Americorps job in some backwater town and went to Hollywood to chase his fortune on Jeopardy! The show was filmed on March 9th, but finally airs tonight.  There’s certain information that John can’t share with us (or anybody, for that matter) — mainly about whether he won or not.  There’s still plenty for him to tell though, so we sat down with him for a full interview.  Click through to read it.

Tonight’s episode of Jeopardy airs on WJLA-ABC7 in DC at 7:30pm.

Where will you be this summer? [Polls]

FoBo is a college ‘hood for sure.  A lot of students pack their bags and roll out for the summer, but quite a few stay here as well.  Some of us who are here more permanently like the calmness of the quite FoBo summers, others really miss the hustle and bustle.

So let us know, are you going to be in FoBo for the summer?
