God I love punsDecember is always the busiest month in terms of all the awesome shit that’s happening in the city. And not even everything is Christmas music! (Spoiler alert: most of it’s Christmas music). So since we’re slowly creeping into making blog posts (!?!) again, here is what’s happening in the couple weekends of December. Weekend To-Do List

Happy Guy Fawkes Day, everyone! A good way to celebrate is to join the group of people in V for Vendetta Fawkes masks who pass out flyers in front of the Scientology Church. Or you could get audited there, I guess.

Contest: Tickets to Angelique Kidjo on Saturday, March 27

FoBoBlo was graciously given two tickets give away for Angélique Kidjo in Lisner Auditorium this Saturday. I highly recommend you check her out even if you don’t win our contest, because she is amazing. I have seen her in concert several times (no joke), and each time is fun and filled with energetic dancing (apparently her last appearance at Lisner had the whole crowd on their feet!).

Kidjo was born in Benin, speaks four languages: Fon, French, Yorùbá, and English, and she sings in all of them. She’s collaborated with Gilberto Gil, Dave Matthews, Carlos Santana, Ziggy Marley, Peter Gabriel, and Joss Stone. Her cover of “Little Boxes” was featured in the show Weeds. She’s also been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2002, and founded The Batonga Foundation which helps fund girls’ education in Africa.

Okay, so I’m a total fan girl. But her music is uplifting, she is inspiring, and her shows are always fun. SO TO WIN TICKETS…just retweet this: I want to win Angelique Kidjo tickets from @foboblo! RT to enter & win! http://bit.ly/bt5uuB

I’ll contact the winner by Friday evening, so don’t dawdle, dear readers!

If you don’t win, tickets are only $15 for students. The show starts at 8 pm. [Ticketing]

Under the cut is a video of Angelique Kidjo with Joss Stone singing Gimme Shelter.

Weekday Roundup

Uhhhh Just look at that wonderful Berlin Wall cake and Reagan impersonator in Kogan Plaza. They were both spotted on Monday, celebrating the fall of the Wall. Did you miss it? Well, you won’t miss weird and fun happenings if you read our Roundups regularly. I’m just sayin’.

Under this link is probably something better than a dude in a Reagan mask in Kogan.

Weekend Roundup

Ugh I know I always talk about the weather in these lead ins, but it’s gross. Apparently the sun’ll come out…on Sunday. Let’s hope.

EDIT: I also forgot to include the fact that the Maroon 5 concert is tonight in Smitty Cent. OH AND IT ISN’T SOLD OUT. Who called that one? (answer: me).
Music, music, music! And Zumba.
