Two new lunch options have opened up in the weird boundary area between FoBo and Dupont! Joining the ranks of similarly named “Chop’t” and Sweet Green, Mix’t Greens (1900 & M St.) brings us another delicious salad place. In my quick stop in today, I noticed two major differences that set this eco-friendly and organic ruffage restaurant apart — rather than serving up wraps in pita or serving a salad with flatbread, Mix’t Greens offers up sandwiches on hearty bread. They also have a freezer which has pre-mixed house salads (which have names such as “Cowboy,” “Dagwood,” and “Bachelor”), an addition that should be welcome to any salad loving professional who doesn’t like waiting in line watching his or her salad made before his/her very eyes! (PS – I went with the “make your own for $6.95″ option, and all the ingredients were crisp, delicious, and fresh. I am now a fan of the mango citrus vinaigrette).
The second appears to also be a national chain of healthy food – Maoz Vegetarian (1817 M St.). They have four meal deals that include different combos of Maoz, or falafel, Belgian fries, and a drink. They also have sweet potato fries, pita sandwiches, and salad boxes. Let us know if you’ve tried them out!
